Senior As impress in outright over Waitakere including a #63notout
A minute’s silence was observed in honour of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes on this tough day for cricketers everywhere.
But the end result – a superb outright win led by Manuel Seidel’s five-wicket bag, and nine in the match, was a boost for everyone. Fittingly in the second innings, newcomer Adam Baard finished 63* – a perfect tribute, and captain Jono Whorwood ended the day on 41*.
Waitakere 130/9 (ao, batsman short) A. Singh 3/20, M Seidel, 4/31; and 150/10 (M Seidel 5/19)
Birkenhead 147/8 dec (J Glynn 42) and 134/3 (A Baard 63*, J Whorwood 41*)
