Relive the Cricket World Cup! BCCC junior enrolments open now

Well that came around quite quickly… If you were excited by the performances of the Black Caps at the CWC last year, you probably want to get a piece of the action this season. It doesn’t matter how good you are – we have teams at all levels and in different grades. Maybe you tried Cricket Blitz at your school and now want to play for a club as well? Birkenhead City Cricket Club would love to hear from you.

Children play soft ball cricket (with an incrediball) until they are in Year 5 at school. In school Years 1 and 2 they play Have a  Go cricket. And in Year 3-4 they play Kiwi Cricket.  This season 2015-2016, midget cricket will be played on Friday nights from 5.30pm and will be finished by 7.30pm. Read about the change from Saturday morning to Fridays here.

Then in school Year 5 children start playing a modified version of hardball, designed to introduce them to the hardball game.

When they get to Year 7 they can choose to play in a more competitive grade in the afternoons, or stick to morning cricket. In Year 8 they play half a season from October to December before they head off to college. We can also run Year 9/10 sides depending on demand, for those who want to play for a club rather than at school, and we have an Under 18 side as well. And yes girls – we have girls’ teams. In fact our Under 12 Quick Hit side won their Auckland grade last year.

Our enrolment days will be held at the club on:
Wednesday September 16 5-7pm;
Saturday September 19 10am-noon;
and Wednesday September 23, 5-7pm.

Below is the enrolment form for the 2015/16 season. Fill it out, pay online (Please mark surname and initial as a reference plus the grade eg Kiwi)
