Club of Origin 2014-15

Organiser: Allan Taylor

Each year, to keep players connected with the club when they head off to school, we play a series of Club of Origin matches. The players involved are year 9/10 and we  play North Shore, Takapuna, East Coast Bays, Kumeu and Hibiscus Coast.  The Club of Origin is a valuable part of the cricket season, and selection takes place based on player performances.  The other good development aspect is that games are all played on grass.

This year we played just two matches, with the third rained off. Note, if anyone took any photos at any of these games please email to as we have no photos to accompany this report. 🙁

In the first Club of Origin game we had a narrow loss to ECB. We batted first but didn’t bat out our overs, and were all out for 158 off 41.1. ECB managed to get to 162/8.

30+ scores: Ethan Schaumkel 34
Thomas Hazeldine 34
Isaiah Morunga 35*.

Bowling: Alex Divall 8 overs 3 maidens 3/14
Ethan Schaumkel 2 overs 2/12.

In the second match against North Shore we batted first and scored 217 for 8.

30+ scores: Jonty Hawkins 49, Alex Divall 32 and  Ethan Schaumkel 30.

We bowled North Shore out for 213 with Jonathan Gibbs taking a fifer.

Bowling: Jonathan Gibbs 8 overs 5/29
Jonty Hawkins 10 overs 1 maidens 2/40
Neel Patel 8 overs 2/48

The 3rd and final match was to be played against Kumeu who were unbeaten but the final weekend was rained off. Kumeu were the eventual winners therefore, with two wins, followed by ECB, HBCC, Takapuna and BCCC all with 1 win each. NS, the Club of Origin winner for the previous three years, had yet to gain a win.
