Birkenhead City Cricket Club AGM is on July 30, 2015

It’s that time of the year when we look back on the previous season and forward to the next one, and beyond. To do that, we invite all club members to the Birkenhead City Cricket Club AGM, on July 30 at 7pm. (Bar will be open earlier, if anyone is interested.)

There are some big things to discuss, not the least of which is a proposed change to the board structure and the voting in of board members.

The following office holders currently form the board:

Financial Director
Senior Convenor  (vacant)
Junior Convenor
Midget convenor
Communications and marketing manager
Coaching and development manager

Chairman Andrew Gale proposes the following amendment to the constitution:

Amend clause 6b to: The Club at its Annual General Meeting shall elect the following Board members:

  1. Chairman
  2. Finance Director
  3. Senior Director
  4. Junior Director

 Amend clause 14b to

The quorum for any Board meeting shall be three Board members

Andrew Gale says: “The purpose of this is to lessen the time requirement for people wanting to help out, e.g. instead of having to be in charge of all Coaching and Development, someone can help out with particular projects. My understanding is that this is the structure other Cricket clubs employ.

“I’d love to have everyone still involved in the running of the club, and I think this new structure can allow people to commit when they can and not feel overwhelmed.”

So other roles that were part of the board would become subsidiary committee roles under this mooted change. e.g Midgets manager, coaching manager, communications and marketing manager would not be part of the board.
