2015 season done and dusted
2014-2015 Message from the club chairman
It’s been a season of change at Birkenhead City Cricket Club as it entered a rebuilding phase, so thank you for all your patience. While we lost the services of Sue Woods as Club Manager, we were lucky enough to gain the services of Niki Wallace. Niki has fitted in really well and we’re looking forward to having her back next season.
A huge congratulations goes to the Under 12 Girls who won their grade – well done to all the players, coach Kevin Nicholas and his assistants and supporters, especially as it was a first season for a number of the girls. Molly Moxley topped the MVP leaderboard for the whole grade! Congratulations Molly. Five Birkenhead players rounded out the top 10.
It was also a very successful season for the Prems. They came a very close third in the Premier Two Day competition known as the Hedley Howarth Trophy, the most prestigious club competition in Auckland Cricket. This is the best result from the club for a very long time, since at least the mid-90s. As well, two players from the Premier Men’s side were also selected for an Auckland As match – Ullrich Boshoff and Dylan Steyn. Well done to all the players and new coach Neil Fletcher.
Prizegivings UPDATED DATE

Midget prizegiving is Sunday May 3 at 1 pm.
Junior prizegiving is Sunday May 3 at 3pm.
The success of the BlackCaps has given us the perfect opportunity to help bolster the junior playing numbers at the club. To help get as many kids as possible playing cricket, the game we love, next season, we really need your help. Currently we’re looking to fill the Midget (Years 1 to 4) and Junior (Years 5 to 8) Convenor roles and would love to hear from any keen volunteers. There will be a lot of support from the Board and Niki so you won’t be left in the dark. And you can also grab a little group of volunteers and do the job together. If you’re interested, please get in touch with club chairman Andrew Gale email@example.com or send us a message on Facebook.
Our club AGM is usually held in July and we vote in the board members then. So you have a couple months to think about whether you’re up for the job. We expect to have a lot more interest next season and we do need more volunteers so if your child loved playing cricket last season and you could lend a hand please let us know.
We’d like to take this chance to thank all the coaches who have put in so much effort over the season. They are all assisted of course by managers and scorers every week without whom the games could not happen.

A huge thank you to Denise Montgomery, a long-time supporter and volunteer at the club, who has done a great job on the content and photos.
On that note, if you would like to send a season wrap of your team’s effort please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org . We’d love to have something about all teams to round off the year.
Thanks to all, Have a great winter and see you at enrolments in September.
